I wanted to take a minute to talk about Lap of Luxury and give some insight into the business and the people you trust to care for your dog or cat. Haley and I became the owners of Lap of Luxury in January of 2017. We're both natives of Shreveport, having lived here our entire lives. We want to make Shreveport a better place to live and work and if we didn't truly care about this area, we wouldn't have put forth the expense and taken on the risk of becoming business owners.
Haley and I both devote a great deal of time and money to local animal rescue. Haley is actually the President of Louisiana Dog Rescue and we both have spent years working in the animal rescue arena, having saved hundreds of dogs and cats. Although we are aware you can't save every dog and cat, we want to be a part of the process of saving as many as possible.
So when you use Lap of Luxury to board your pet or for doggie day care, you aren't just putting your dog or cat into another facility. You're supporting a local business with local ties, owners that care about our city, and entrusting your pet with people you know will care for them as if they're our own.

We get asked a lot "what is dog daycare" and that question is normally followed by another question, something like "is dog daycare right for me?" Today, we'll try to answer both questions!
One thing veterinarians locally have told us is that many dogs they see just don't get enough exercise, which can lead to behavioral and health problems in dogs. This is especially true among puppies up through middle aged dogs.
This led us to offer dog daycare, a low cost option to ensure each dog can get socialization and exercise while you're at work, versus laying around the house. Every dog at daycare spends the day in our playroom with a hand full of other dogs, along with plenty of toys, balls, and a ball pit they can play in. They also receive socialization from the staff and throughout the day are taken to our outdoor play pen, where they also can play and run.
Our goal is to ensure that every day, you pick up a dog that is tired, but very happy! If your dog isn't getting enough exercise or socialization during the day, daycare might be right for you. Whether its twice a week or every work day, you can bring your dog in as much or as little as you like.
You can find more information on our daycare page!

At Lap of Luxury, we've all been owners of dogs and cats before, and still are. Personally, my biggest concern when it came to my dog was leaving town and boarding him. He's my baby, my best friend, and I wanted him to receive the best treatment possible.
There was always a thought in the back of my head when he was dropped off at the vets office of whether he was being treated as a family member, like he would be at home. So when Haley and I became owners, it was an understanding that every person hired had to truly love animals. We want to treat every dog and cat here like we treat our own pets.
Anytime someone wants a tour of our facility, we are happy to show them around. Are we a perfect facility? Not yet. We're still hard at work on renovations. However, I have no doubt that if you stop by and you look around, whether it be 8:00 AM on Monday morning or 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon, you'll have no concerns about leaving your family member with us. That's part of the transparency that we want to have with our customers. Lastly, if you ever have a concern or problem, you can reach me any day at any time on my cell phone: 318-455-5333. We look forward to seeing you!
